• Herring Named To NWC All-Conference First-Team; Williams To Second-Team

    Junior guard Christina Herring was named to the Northwest Conference All-Conference First-Team as announced by the league office on Thursday. Herring is not the only Pioneer to earn a spot on the All-Conference list, as freshman Kristina Williams was named to the All-Conference Second-Team, while sophomore Margaret Dowling earned an Honorable Mention nod.

The Pioneers and girls of Upward Basketball worked together on game fundamentals, as well as competing side by side in a couple pick up games.

  • Women's Basketball Falls To Puget Sound 74-49

    The Lewis & Clark Athletics Department, in conjunction with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), were able to raise over $1,000 to donate to the Haiti Relief Fun between the Northwest Conference basketball games hosted by the Pioneers this weekend. Tonight the department raised money as the women’s basketball team fell 79-49 to the Puget Sound Loggers in the Pamplin Sports Complex in their PAC(K) Pamplin game.

    In a battle for positioning a top the Northwest Conference standings, it was the George Fox Bruins who had the edge, defeating the Lewis & Clark women’s basketball team, 40-24, in the lowest scoring game for both teams this season. The win gives the Bruins sole possession of first place in conference play as they remain undefeated, while the Pioneers are now tied with the Puget Sound Loggers for second place.

    Kristina Williams is a starting freshman for the women’s basketball team. Coming from El Dorado Hills, California, Kristina has been playing basketball since the third grade. When she came to Lewis & Clark on a recruiting trip, she enjoyed being with the girls on the team and liked its perfect location just outside of the city. Kristina has won numerous awards such as MVP of the Optimus All-Star Game and also won a sportsmanship award.

    The Lewis & Clark women’s basketball team had an eventful trip north of the boarder, playing four games as part of its 2009 Canada Tour. The Pioneers played three scrimmage games: British Columbia, Simon Fraser and Victoria. The Pios then took on Vancouver Island University playing by standard NCAA Division III rules.
