LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Lewis & Clark women's basketball team hit the road for its California series on Friday night taking on head coach Asha Jordan's former institution Occidental College, with Jordan and the Pioneers defeating the Tigers 64-58 courtesy of 21 points from Ayistat Afolabi.

Afolabi collected a game-high nine rebounds to go with her game-high 21 points. The sophomore forward ended the night 9-of-11 from the free-throw line, while hitting 6-of-10 from the floor. Afolabi's 21 points is a career best for the California native.

Senior Casey Zinn netted 17 points in the win, while collecting seven rebounds, four steals and two blocks in 29 minutes of action. Cianna Ochoco knocked down seven points for the Pioneers, while Lauren Wood and Sarah Anderson each finished with six points.

Tiffany Kho ended the night with 17 points for the Tigers, while Ashton Reid picked up 16 points.

It took the Pioneers little time to take control of the game, with Ochoco putting her team up just 20-seconds into the contest with an easy layup. The Pioneers continued to pile it on, going on a 7-2 run over the next four and a half minutes of play.

A three-pointer from Ochoco with 7:23 on the clock helped earn the Pioneers their largest lead of the contest at 27-12.  Occidental would fight their way back into the game, holding Lewis & Clark to just seven more points in the period, making it a 34-26 game at halftime.

Lewis & Clark maintained control of the lead throughout the majority of the second half until Occidental tied the game at 53-53 with 3:44 to go. Zinn gave the Pioneers the lead back seconds later with a quick layup after a Tiger timeout. After the layup the Pioneers closed out the game on a 9-5 run to pick up the victory.

The Pioneers end their California trip on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 3 p.m. against CalTech.
