FOREST GROVE, Ore. -- For the third time this season, Lewis & Clark senior Ayisat Afolabi has been selected Northwest Conference Student-Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.

With all of her selections occurring since Dec. 28, Afolabi added to her impressive final season with two more double-doubles in wins at Willamette and at home on Senior Night against Pacific last weekend. On Friday in Salem, Ore., Afolabi scored 25 points and pulled down 14 rebounds to help the Pioneers even the season series with Willamette in a 65-56 victory. The next night, following a recognition ceremony with her senior teammates Sarah Anderson and Deja Nicholas, Afolabi scored 22 points with 14 boards as the Pios won 72-59 against Pacific.

This season, Afolabi has scored over 20 points seven times and has posted 15 double-doubles, which ranks her in the top 20 nationally. She's averaging career highs in minutes, points, rebounds and steals per game, while also hitting on an all-time best 50 percent from the field. The Psychology major is averaging three steals per game. She leads the NWC in rebounds per game, is second in steals per game and is top three in blocks and scoring per game.

After winning 11 games over her sophomore and junior seasons, Lewis & Clark is 15-8 this season and on the verge of securing a NWC postseason tournament spot with at least one win in their final two games this weekend at Whitman and Whitworth. The Pioneers can also secure a spot a variety of other ways, including a loss by Whitworth on Friday against George Fox.
