PALATINE HILL -- Off a third place finish in the Northwest Conference last season, the Lewis & Clark Pioneers seek bigger and better things in 2016-17. One incoming student-athlete will join the Pios' deep returning group as head coach Dave Andrews announced his newest addition on Tuesday.

The Pioneers were No. 25 in the final NCAA Division III Golfstat Relative Ranking, climbing as high as No. 20 during last season. Lewis & Clark won two spring events and finished third at the Northwest Conference Championship in April, while then-freshman Mady Rhodenbaugh won three Northwest Conference Student-Athlete of the Week honors.

"We have a talented and competitive group back for this upcoming season and we think Annika will fit right in," said Andrews. "The Northwest Conference is one of the nation's best, so we are eager to see what we can do over the next year."

- Why Lewis & Clark? -
"What first appealed to me was the significantly under-117 degree weather, which plagues the desert of Arizona, and an environment of pure green with vegetation that doesn't stab you. However, what truly drew me was a combination of the team's camaraderie and friendliness and challenging academics. I wanted a place where I can be both an avid outdoorswoman and a city shopper; fortunately for me, Portland has all of that plus great food. I could not be more excited to have discovered such a great school surrounded by a beautiful landscape and a Forever 21."
