HILLSBORO, Ore. -- In her first event of the Spring season Annie McCutchan shot 79-76 to top the leaderboard at the Puget Sound Spring Invitational and earn her the title of Northwest Conference Student-Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
McCutchan entered the second day in a tie for third place, trailing first-place Maddie Prigge of Saint Martin's by two strokes. Battling through cold weather and a frosty course McCutchan managed a four-over 76 on Sunday to best the field by three strokes.
McCutchan's second day round of 76 is her second-best score this season behind only her 71 at the Puget Sound Fall Invitational. This marks McCutchan's first individual title this season and third individual title of her Lewis & Clark career.
The Pioneers entered the second day of competition in third place, trailing Whitworth by two strokes and Saint Martin's by five. Improving on their first day total by three strokes, the Pioneers managed to move up to second, beating Saint Martin's by one stroke.
