Pioneers can’t overcome Whitman Blues in road game loss

WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- The Lewis and Clark Pioneers (3-7-1, 1-6 NWC) fell short to the Whitman Blues (2-8-1, 2-5 NWC) 3-0 in their second road game of the year. Despite early saves by starting goalie Megan Sawyer, Whitman scored a goal late in the first half, and sealed the match with two more goals in the second.

Anna Saucedo led the charge offensively with 1 of the Pios' 5 shots on goal, and 3 shots overall, while Megan Sawyer and Abby Prager had 3 saves each. The Pioneers played a much more aggressive offensive game against Whitman, taking 5 shots on goal to their 9, but also racked up 5 fouls as a result. The Pioneers continue conference play with a 1-6 record.

The Blues started the first half with an aggressive offense, taking 8 of their 13 shots. They scored their first goal with 2:10 left to go in the half. Megan Sawyer defended the Pios with 3 saves before coming out in the second half.
