The Pioneers had a big win in doubles but fell short in the end

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. -- The Lewis & Clark Pioneers fell to the Linfield Wildcats. This makes the Pioneers 3-3 in conference play, and this is only their second loss on the road for the season.  The Pioneers lost with an overall score of 1-8. 

The Pioneers seemed to struggle to get any momentum on the day, and they were not able to snatch a win in singles. The Pioneers had a huge win in doubles for the day against the Wildcats' No. 1. Madelyn Landerfelt and Riley Hanks had the only win of the night for the Pioneers.

Key Moments

In doubles, the Pioneers had one close match against the Wildcats' No. 1, Elsa Harris and Michelle Uyeda. Landerfelt and Hanks gained enough momentum to win without even a tie-breaker, and they finished with an overall score of 8-5. Caroline Henne and Caitlin Jones also had a close match in doubles with a 4-8 loss to the Wildcats' No. 3. The Pioneers ended doubles with a score of 1-2. 

In singles, the Pioneers had a tougher time getting started, and they seemed to struggle to keep momentum throughout the day. Hanks fell to the Wildcats' No. 1 with a 0-6, 1-6 loss. Landerfelt had one of the closest games of singles with a 1-6, 5-7 loss to the Wildcats' No. 2. Rachael Rice had another close match, but could not finish with a win. The Pioneers went 0-6 overall in singles.
