In his second season as an assistant coach in 2018-19, Miguel Santiago joined the staff in 2017. He is one of a handful of Northwest players that has ever spent a good amount of time on a professional tour after finishing his formative years at Smith-Stearns Academy before fully committing to the ATP circuit. At eighteen years of age, “Mico” traveled the world playing tournaments and achieved a career-high ATP ranking of No. 684 at the age of 21.
“Retiring” from the tour at the ripe old age of 23, Santiago spent some time teaching juniors in his hometown of Corvallis, Ore. and is now a member of the Rip City Tennis coaching staff. He continues his college studies at Oregon State while assisting with the team.
