WHITEWATER, Wisc. -- The Lewis & Clark Pioneers lost their finale at the UW-Whitewater Invitational on Saturday, losing to Augustana, 25-17, 25-15, 25-18, at the Russell Arena.
The loss moves to the Pioneers to 1-6 on the season entering the beginning of Northwest Conference play on Wednesday at George Fox.
Lewis & Clark opened the match on Saturday with a 6-3 lead thanks to a good serving run by Annika San Nicolas, who received kills by Hannah Robles, Kortney Meyer and Casey Myszkowski. The Pios later erased a 16-10 deficit on Emma Contreras' serve, scoring six-straight points before Augustana closed out the set on a 9-0 run.
Meyer finished with a match-high 10 kills, her third double-digit kills match in the last four, finishing with a .192 hitting percentage. Contreras added nine, while Anneke Banda and Myszkowski had four apiece. Mikayla Lopez had 18 assists and San Nicolas finished with 18 digs.
Following road games at George Fox and Linfield, the Pios return home on Sept. 22 against Pacific.
