SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Lewis & Clark Pioneers drop their second conference match to the Whitworth University Pirates.
The Pioneers dropped the first set with never establishing a lead finishing 19-25. The Pioneers continued to struggle throughout the match with errors which caused them to lose multiple leads.
The Pioneers started the second set with a lead with multiple errors by the Whitworth Pirates. The Pios then lost the lead with a hitting error by Kortney Meyer, and back to back kills by Whitworth's Jessica Schmatuz. The Pioneers lost the second set, 18-25.
Lewis & Clark started out the third set strong with a lead until the last two points of the match where they tied the Pirates 23-23. The set was finished with an attack error by Makena Ohlmaier and kills again by Whitworth's Jessica Schmatuz to finish the game, 23-25.
Kendall Malone lead the Pioneers hitting a .292 with eight kills
Senior Mikayla Lopez led the Pioneers in assists with 13
Ka'anelaokapu'uwai Pakaki-Pias had two service aces
The Pioneers are at home next Friday, Sept. 21, against Puget Sound then are back on the road Saturday to go against Linfield.
