Pioneers build momentum with win over Linfield

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Feeding off the energy of their win over Puget sound, the Lewis & Clark Pioneers (11-8, 4-8 NWC) took the Linfield Wildcats (6-14, 1-11 NWC) down in an exciting three-set game (25-19, 25-18, 25-17).

The Pioneers played fast and aggressive from the beginning of the match, taking an early lead in both the first and third sets. The second set was the most exciting of the match, with the Pios trading the lead back and forth with the Wildcats until a seven point run scored them the win.

Key Moments

The Pioneers set the tone for the game right out of the gate scoring their first point on a service ace. Seniors Kortney Meyer and Casey Myszkowski led the team in kills with ten and seven respectively, and played a key role in the Pioneers comeback win in set two. Freshman Michelle McGinn and Ka'anelaokapu'uwai Pakaki-Pias had twelve digs each of the team's 69 total. The Pioneers blazed through set three, taking an early lead and never allowing the Wildcats within two points.
