PORTLAND, Ore. – The Lewis & Clark women's cross country team was ranked 34th of all NCAA Division III teams in the nation by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) in a preseason coaches poll released August 21st.

The Pioneer women are the highest ranked team in the Northwest Conference, and also placed third in the West Region by the USTFCCCA preseason regional rankings.

Last season, the team won their second consecutive Northwest Conference Championship, and the Pioneer women sent two of their runners, Illana Livstrom and Emily Thomas, to NCAA nationals in Oshkosh, Wis.

"It's nice to be recognized on a national and regional level, and we'll see once we start racing how far we can go," said head coach Keith Woodard.

The cross country team begins their season with a dual against Linfield on Friday, August 31 at 4 p.m. at Westmoreland Park.
